Repair Process

Painted Alloy Wheels

We start with a full clean of the wheel to inspect the damage. The preparation is one of the most important stages in wheel repairing. This is a very high standard procedure to ensure you get the best possible finish.

Once the inspection is complete, the wheel colour is matched for a factory result then prepared for paint.

A few different methods are used depending on the wheel and damage – DA sanding, die grinding, polishing filling and more.

Once the wheel is masked and ready for paint, it is thoroughly cleaned with Prepsol and wiped down with a Tak Rag to ensure the cleanest finish. The wheel is then unmasked and let to dry.

FIX MY ALLOYS use only the best PPG paints and 3M products. After the painting process the wheel is unmasked and let to dry.

The wheel remains on the vehicle at all times due to a Convenient Alloy Wheel Repair Process. This allows the job to be completed in a cost effective timeframe, allowing you to be able to drive the vehicle immediately once completed.

Machine Face Wheels

Machine face wheels are created when put through a computerised lathe (CNC Machine) from factory. A thin layer of the face is diamond cut leaving an alloy face followed by a clear coat. To repair back to factory is a lengthy and costly process and be prepared to be without your wheels for numerous days.

However Fix My Alloys provides a mobile service for a faction of the price and time, with repairs finished under 1 hour per wheel.

Fix my alloys uses a 3 stage repair system. After a thorough clean and damage is inspected.

  • all damage is removed with different sanding techniques
  • the repaired area is then polished to recover the alloy lustre
  • wheel is colour matched and clear coated for protection against ageing and corrosion.

All mobile customers are very happy and satisfied with this repair process. Spotting the difference between repair finishes might be seen if you’re on your hands and knees really inspecting. Stand back from your wheel and you will see no difference!

Shadow Chrome wheels

Your wheel is thoroughly cleaned and inspected for damage. The wheel is then colour matched before any work has started, matching the tone and brightness of the shadow chrome. A black base is then applied over the repaired and primed area followed by the desired amount of shadow chrome archived by previous colour matching. Once colour has been sprayed it’s followed by a clear coat to seal your wheel.

Polished alloy wheels

Your damaged wheel is thoroughly cleaned and inspected for damage. The repair process is the same as a normal painted alloy however instead of finished with paint the wheel is polished using our polishing buffs to regain the polished lustre. Depending on the style of wheel some are finished with a clear coat and some are left with a raw polished alloy. (hotrod wheels)
